When I tell people I have a Ducati 748 the first question is inevitably "is it red or yellow?". Even more inevitably they can't picture a titanium grey one with red wheels they so this page exists simply so I can send people a link. This colour scheme was only available in 2002 and as far as I can tell Ducati tricked up this 'S' model so could sell off their surplus stock before the arrival of the 749. It seems to have been made in pretty limited numbers - only 250 for the US market according to the glorious interweb, which as we all know is never wrong. Ducati's official page for the 748S lists all the factory-fit bells and whistles, though the previous owner added a lot of extras such as a sweet set of rearsets, an open clutch cover & a numberboard at the front.

Here are some photos of my mate Picard's 2005 Honda Fireblade, in case he wants to show people and he's near a computer. He had it resprayed to match his favourite tipple and it looks fantastic (just don't mention the stator). Photos taken at James' Gate Brewery for obvious reasons!

Here are some photos of my Granda, Pearse Oman, who was a despatch rider or "Don Robert" for the Irish Army during World War II (or The Emergency as it was called over here). He's the only member of my family apart from myself that ever rode a motorbike as far as I know so some day I'd love to buy an old M20 and restore it. This is him on a BSA M20:

I won a Troy Bayliss replica helmet signed by the treble World Superbike Champion himself the other day! The competition was in GameStop of all places, to tie in with the release of the SBK 08 videogame I assume since Bayliss is on the box art. Needless to say I was thrilled with myself, being a huge Bayliss fan. I'll upload a decent photo of it taken by something other than a camera-phone one of these years:
Here's a youtube video of Bayliss (#21) having a ding-dong with Nori Haga (#41) at the Vallelunga round of World Superbikes last year. Bayliss comes off the worst from that encounter but he did win the championship so I guess he lost the battle but won the war. Ironically my current lid for my bike is a Nori Haga replica. |
